• Topical therapy
  Hyperpigmented scars can be lightened by using hydroquinone, kojic acid, alpha hydroxyl acid, hydrocortisone and retinoic acid.
•  Use of topical silicone gel or silicone sheet improves the contour, texture and the colour of the scar. 

• Intralesional agents
  
  Intralesional corticosteroids

              Intralesional 5-Flurouracil (5-FU)

              Intralesional bleomycin

• Cryotherapy -
  Cryotherapy either alone or in combination with intralesional corticosteroids or surgical excision is used in the management of hypertrophic scars and keloids. 

• Non-ablative lasers -
  Pulsed dye laser (585 nm) decreases the redness of the scar by destroying the blood vessels and softens the scar. 

• Ablative laser resurfacing
  Pulsed carbon dioxide and pulsed erbium:YAG laser cause superficial scar ablation.

•  Soft tissue fillers -
  Bovine collagen, homologous human collagen, fat and hyaluronic acid and other synthetic fillers can be used for elevating depressed and pitted scars
